Concord Fire Department Renovation & Addition – Concord, NH

Turner Group provided full renovation design services for the transformation of the historic 1894 Concord Water Works buildings and surrounding site into the new $2 million Concord Fire Headquarters and Communications Center Campus. Abandoned for more than a decade, this landmark facility was carefully abated of hazardous materials, structurally reinforced, and thoughtfully restored to preserve its architectural character while supporting modern, high-performance operations.

The redesigned campus features a technologically advanced communications and dispatch center serving 18 surrounding communities, designed in full compliance with NFPA 1221 standards. Enhancements included ballistic-rated glass for increased safety, a 100-foot self-supported communications tower, and the installation of over one mile of underground conduits to support critical infrastructure. The site was further improved with stamped pavement and a range of site upgrades to meet the demands of a contemporary public safety facility.

This project not only delivered a fully operational city fire headquarters campus but also honored the historical significance of one of Concord’s architectural landmarks. In recognition of this achievement, the project was awarded the prestigious New Hampshire Historic Preservation Achievement Award by the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance for its outstanding renovation and preservation work.
