GE Healthcare Advanced Manufacturing Facility LEED® Gold | High-Tech Design | North Greenbush, NY

The Turner Group (TTG) provided architectural design, structural engineering, and construction administration services for GE Healthcare Division’s state-of-the-art $165 million, 225,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility.

This highly specialized facility supports the production of components for GE’s digital X-ray and MRI systems and stands as one of the first projects of its kind in the United States to achieve LEED® Gold certification from the USGBC. The building integrates 40,000 square feet of Class A office space, a product showroom, café and kitchen, health clinic, fitness center, laboratories, and a high-security lobby/control station.

TTG’s design incorporates a wide range of sustainable and energy-efficient features, including sunscreens, photovoltaic solar arrays, particle sensor-controlled air handlers, a highly reflective roof, occupancy and daylight-responsive lighting, and a linear roof monitor atrium that brings natural light into the office area, all enhancing the indoor environment for occupants.

The facility showcases 140,000 square feet of high-hazard (H5) cleanrooms and mechanical fan deck areas, 50,000 square feet of perforated/conductive raised access flooring, and specialized systems such as clean agent fire suppression, 500 linear feet of 8- and 15-foot-deep underground piping distribution tunnels, toxic gas and flammable liquid storage bunkers (H2 classification), and blast-resistant damage limiting construction. Additional infrastructure includes a 36,000-gallon deionized water system and numerous custom features tailored to support GE Healthcare’s advanced manufacturing processes.
